Job overview
McDermott International is a global EPCIC leader serving the oil and gas industry. The company is hiring an experienced supervisor for its fabrication yard operations, with a focus on offshore modules. This role suits someone with a strong fabrication background who can help drive safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution.
Responsibilities
- Offer technical direction and hands-on support to fabrication yard operations while ensuring alignment with project specifications, industry codes, and applicable standards.
- Supervise discipline-related work, including process procedures, equipment decisions, consumable selection, and quality assurance controls.
- Create and roll out procedures and improvement plans that raise productivity and efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
- Carry out routine inspections and audits to confirm compliance with welding specifications and to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Coach, train, and guide team members so they build strong capability in welding methods, safety practices, and quality expectations.
- Work closely with engineering, project management, and other technical teams to troubleshoot issues and keep execution on track.
- Coordinate with client representatives and outside stakeholders, responding to welding-related questions and offering expert technical input.
Qualifications
The role requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline, although relevant equivalent experience may be accepted. Candidates should bring extensive fabrication experience in the oil and gas sector, ideally involving offshore modules, along with a solid understanding of industry standards and codes. A successful background in delivery focused on safety, quality, and schedule performance is important, as are strong leadership and communication abilities. The position also calls for the ability to assess complex welding challenges, develop practical solutions, and make sound decisions.
