The Senior Immigration Specialist will strengthen McDermott’s immigration function by applying strong subject-matter knowledge, practical judgment, and awareness of internal and external developments. Key responsibilities
- Spot patterns and shape program-level objectives and initiatives based on substantial immigration experience.
- Guide case-by-case filing approaches, including difficult scenarios that need independent research and careful interpretation of rules and procedures.
- Partner with internal stakeholders such as Recruitment, HR, Legal, Risk and Compliance, and Public Policy to build related processes, filing approaches, and resourcing plans.
- Train HR and business partners on immigration policies and how those rules affect hiring and broader business decisions.
- Work with Global Immigration Program Managers to design performance metrics, review methods, and tools that measure the effectiveness of the immigration program.
- Carry out periodic reviews of existing processes to support compliance, identify gaps or inefficiencies, and lead continuous improvement efforts.
- Recommend system enhancements from a technical standpoint.
- Advise the Immigration Communications and Content team on both near-term and long-range communication opportunities.
Required qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in HR, Legal, Business Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in global immigration.
- Strong knowledge of immigration environments and market trends across the region.
- Proven experience in designing, launching, and overseeing large-scale immigration programs.
- Background in global immigration vendor transitions and onboarding new countries.
- Experience handling both global and country-specific immigration audits.
- Ability to negotiate immigration-related concessions with government authorities.
- Comfort working in a highly matrixed setting and collaborating effectively across all organizational levels.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Strong accountability, sound judgment, and adaptability in changing situations.
