Role Overview

The National Strategic Account Manager will support the development and management of national, multi-site, and international strategic accounts. The role acts as a central point of coordination among customers, sales, purchasing, operations, vendors, and branch teams to deliver strong service, smooth order handling, and profitable growth.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering Materials and Fabricated Parts, this person will help advance strategic growth plans, manage important client relationships, coordinate complex work, identify new opportunities, and support international business development. This is a performance-based role with a competitive base salary plus commission, designed to recognize both operational execution and revenue growth.

Location Requirement

Candidates must be based in either the Mountain or Pacific time zones.

Key Responsibilities

The position includes the following duties, along with other tasks as assigned:

  • Oversee national, multi-location, and strategic customer accounts across North America.
  • Build long-term relationships with key clients and look for ways to improve revenue and profitability.
  • Coordinate major customer projects involving several branches, suppliers, and manufacturing sites.
  • Handle quotations, purchase orders, order confirmations, and customer requests with timely follow-through.
  • Partner with Purchasing, Operations, Inventory Management, and branch teams to keep projects moving.
  • Support strategic initiatives directed by the Director of Engineering Materials and Fabricated Parts.
  • Identify and pursue new strategic accounts and market opportunities using Seamless.AI, CRM systems, industry research, and other business intelligence tools.
  • Develop growth opportunities in data centers, OEM manufacturing, food processing, semiconductor, fabrication, industrial manufacturing, and other priority sectors.
  • Prepare pipeline updates, sales performance analysis, market research summaries, and business development reports.
  • Assist with national trade shows, customer meetings, and industry events.
  • Keep CRM data accurate and up to date.
  • Coordinate projects involving fabricated parts, engineered materials, and value-added manufacturing services.
  • Support pricing coordination, inventory planning, and communication with suppliers.
  • Work with international customers and suppliers while also supporting North American customers with global operations.
  • Manage business activity for customers operating both internationally and within North America.
  • Find ways to expand existing accounts into new locations, business units, and global markets.

Experience and Education

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred, although relevant equivalent experience may be accepted.
  • Three to five years of experience in account management, strategic sales, project management, customer service, or industrial distribution is required/preferred.
  • Prior experience handling national or multi-location accounts is preferred.
  • Background in industrial manufacturing, engineered plastics, fabrication, or a closely related field is preferred.

Physical Requirements

The job requires frequent speaking and hearing, regular typing, use of telephony equipment, and viewing information on computer screens. The role also involves occasional standing, walking, sitting, and reaching. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Required vision abilities include close, distance, and peripheral vision, plus the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

This role is mainly performed in an office setting with frequent exposure to office equipment. The typical noise level is moderate.
