About the Role
This is a full-time remote position with a plant-based snack company focused on making healthy eating easier through simple, delicious products. The brand offers a range of super snacks made with clean ingredients, including Fruit Bars, Mini Fruit Bars, Probiotic Bars, Truffles, and Crunchables. Its products are crafted with five ingredients or fewer, and the flagship fruit bars are made with just two ingredients: fruit and fruit. The full line is free from added purees, juices, concentrates, preservatives, GMO ingredients, and the top 12 allergens.
Role Overview
As the National Sales Manager for the Alternative Channel, you will be responsible for accelerating national foodservice sales and expanding market presence across multiple segments. This role involves developing new business, strengthening customer relationships, and driving growth across channels such as College/University, Vending/Micro Markets, B&I, Healthcare, QSRs, Travel, Military, and related areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively develop new business through prospecting, networking, and market intelligence to win new accounts and grow the foodservice customer base.
- Work toward quarterly and yearly sales targets and keep leadership informed on progress; the role operates in a high-velocity, target-driven environment.
- Use data and category insights to support innovation and expand distribution beyond the current core product range.
- Oversee broker relationships by conducting performance reviews and collaborating on sales strategy.
- Build and maintain relationships with distributors and GPOs, including Vistar, UNFI, Sysco, Aramark, and Coremark, to align growth plans and sales objectives.
- Manage existing customer agreements, including renewals and expansion opportunities, while ensuring smooth account execution.
- Travel frequently, around 40% to 60% of the time, to meet customers, attend trade shows, and pursue new opportunities.
- Prepare and share regular updates on sales results, forecasting, and competitive developments in the channel.
- Assist with the rollout of national promotions, campaigns, and new product introductions at the regional level.
- Handle rebates, allowances, deductions, and receivables, while supporting customer service and order fulfillment when needed.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent experience as a sales manager is required.
- Minimum 5 years of wholesale sales experience, including work with foodservice accounts and distributors; CPG experience is preferred.
- Strong familiarity with key foodservice segments, including College/University, Vending/Micro Markets, B&I, Healthcare, QSRs, Travel, and Military.
- A growth-oriented mindset with the ability to pursue leads aggressively and close sales.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
- Experience in sales forecasting, lead generation, and executive-level reporting.
- Solid understanding of the US foodservice landscape, including distributors, brokers, and major industry participants.
- Demonstrated ability to build pipeline and generate new business proactively.
- Capability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
