Company Overview

American Iron & Metal (AIM) is a privately held, family-run business and a major global player in metal recycling. With more than 125 locations and over 4,000 team members around the world, the company has grown steadily for eight decades through employee commitment and customer confidence.

AIM operates as a diversified organization with businesses spanning metal recycling, demolition and decommissioning, auto parts sales and recycling, solder assembly manufacturing, construction waste recycling, and custom industrial and mining product production. The company emphasizes environmental responsibility and works toward a cleaner, more sustainable future.

AIM’s guiding approach is straightforward: deliver quality work and strive for excellence.

Role Overview

This opportunity is for a high-impact National Accounts Manager who can lead growth for AIM Honeycomb across the United States. The role blends business development, supplier relationship management, and market expansion, with a focus on building a broader national supply base and strengthening commercial presence in priority markets.

The selected professional will work directly with automotive recyclers, dismantlers, salvage yards, automotive groups, and industrial customers nationwide. The core objective is to win trusted partnerships, grow supply channels, and establish AIM Honeycomb as a preferred partner for catalyst recycling and recovery.

This is a remote position that requires national travel of up to 60%.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, negotiate, and close long-term purchasing agreements, toll refining arrangements, and strategic supply partnerships that improve volume, margin, and profitability.
  • Lead sourcing efforts across the country for automotive catalysts and other precious metal-bearing materials.
  • Identify new supplier prospects, convert them into active relationships, and grow existing accounts.
  • Manage bids, design competitive tolling structures, and negotiate pricing approaches.
  • Visit supplier sites regularly, including auto recyclers, dismantlers, scrap processors, and industrial customers across the U.S.
  • Create territory and account growth plans through consistent in-person engagement and proactive outreach.
  • Develop supplier confidence through transparency, reliable communication, and steady relationship management.
  • Represent AIM Honeycomb at trade shows, conferences, and supplier meetings to increase market reach.
  • Assess market conditions and competitor activity to refine pricing, margins, and growth strategy.
  • Work closely with operations, logistics, administration, and finance to ensure smooth commercial execution.
  • Use field insights and supplier feedback to improve performance, service delivery, and supplier satisfaction.
  • Apply CRM tools, analytics, and market intelligence to track pipeline activity, forecast volumes, uncover opportunities, and strengthen commercial outcomes.
  • Act as the main commercial contact for assigned national accounts and strategic supplier relationships.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in B2B sales, national account management, or business development.
  • A strong history of prospecting, developing, and growing strategic or national accounts.
  • Proven ability to negotiate commercial agreements and drive revenue growth.
  • Comfort working independently in a remote, field-oriented role with a self-starting, results-focused approach.
  • Readiness to travel nationally for up to 60% of the time.
  • Advanced comfort with CRM systems and the ability to use data and analytics to support growth.
  • Capability to identify opportunities, build a sales pipeline, and convert prospects into long-term partners.
  • Experience in automotive, metals, recycling, or similar industries is an advantage.

Benefits and Compensation

  • Expected total compensation is $100K–$150K+, including base pay and incentive pay, along with vacation, benefits, and a 401(k) matching program.
  • Eligible dependents may receive access to AIM’s annual tuition scholarship program of up to $8,500.
  • Tools, training, and ongoing support are provided to help the successful candidate perform well and advance professionally.
  • The role offers a dynamic and enjoyable work environment.

Additional Information

This is a field-based national sales position that involves up to 60% travel. Regular visits to supplier sites, trade events, and industry conferences are an essential part of the job.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The best fit for this role is a relationship-oriented, commercially sharp professional who enjoys working in the field, can influence long-term partnerships, and is comfortable driving growth through direct engagement, market insight, and disciplined follow-through.
