Role overview
Nord Anglia Education is hiring a MYP Language & Literature Teacher (English) for Etqan Global Academy (EGA), a newly established IB World School in Doha, Qatar. The role is based in Al Rayyan, Qatar and is focused on helping students grow into confident readers, writers, and communicators within the IB Middle Years Programme.
What you will do
- Plan and teach engaging Language & Literature lessons that follow the IB MYP framework and connect with global contexts.
- Create inquiry-led learning activities that strengthen reading, writing, critical thinking, and communication.
- Evaluate student work using MYP Language & Literature assessment standards and give clear, helpful feedback.
- Develop units of inquiry that explore language, literature, intercultural understanding, and global themes.
- Build ATL skills and encourage a strong appreciation for reading and language across lessons.
- Prepare students for MYP eAssessment in Language & Literature.
- Carry out Form Tutor duties and support the school’s pastoral programme.
- Contribute positively to the English department and the wider school community.
What we are looking for
- A recognised teaching credential such as PGCE, QTS, B.Ed, or an equivalent qualification.
- A degree in English, Language & Literature, or a closely related subject.
- Prior experience teaching English or Language & Literature in an IB MYP school.
- Strong understanding of the MYP Language & Literature curriculum, assessment criteria, and eAssessment.
- Excellent literacy ability and a genuine enthusiasm for language and literature.
- The ability to design concept-based, inquiry-driven, and differentiated lessons.
- Good classroom management and strong communication skills.
- A clear commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
- IB MYP workshop training in Language & Literature is an advantage, and international school experience is also preferred.
