Health and Safety Manager

Role Overview

Nord Anglia Education invites applications for the position of Health and Safety Manager at Etqan Global Academy in Doha, Qatar. The selected individual will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing the school's health and safety management framework to guarantee a safe and compliant environment for students, faculty, visitors, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the enforcement and management of the school's health and safety systems, ensuring all policies and procedures are clearly understood and efficiently implemented.
• Offer pragmatic health and safety guidance to school leadership, operational teams, facilities staff, and teaching personnel.
• Organize and update risk assessments related to school activities, physical facilities, educational excursions, events, and contractors.
• Conduct routine health and safety audits and inspections throughout the school premises.
• Lead or assist investigations into incidents and near misses, determining root causes and suggesting corrective measures.
• Support preparation and drills for emergency response plans, including procedures for fire evacuation, lockdowns, and medical emergencies.
• Provide health and safety inductions, training sessions, and promote awareness among staff and contractors.
• Oversee contractor compliance with safety regulations and supervise their onsite activities.
• Regularly report health and safety performance metrics to both school and regional leadership teams.

Candidate Profile

• Possess relevant occupational health and safety qualifications or equivalent experience, such as the NEBOSH International General Certificate.
• Demonstrate prior experience in health and safety roles, preferably within sectors like education, facilities management, hospitality, or healthcare.
• Have comprehensive knowledge of risk assessments, safety inspections, accident investigations, and management of corrective actions.
• Exhibit strong communication and organizational capabilities.
• Be adept at collaborating with diverse stakeholders within a school setting.
• Show competence in IT and meticulous record-keeping skills.
• Additional certifications such as IOSH Managing Safely, First Aid, or Fire Safety training are advantageous.
• Experience working in Qatar or the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region is desirable.
