Role overview

The school is seeking a Career Counsellor cum IB English Facilitator to support students’ academic, personal, and career growth while also delivering English instruction in line with International Baccalaureate principles and curriculum. This position combines counselling, university guidance, and classroom teaching to help students build strong communication skills and plan for their future.

Career counselling responsibilities

• Offer guidance to students on higher education options and career routes.
• Help students choose subject combinations that suit their academic strengths and career aspirations.
• Support students with overseas university applications, including personal statements, references, and other required paperwork.
• Keep current knowledge of international universities, scholarships, and admission criteria.
• Organize and run career awareness programs, workshops, and university fairs.
• Administer aptitude and career assessments to understand student interests and strengths.
• Maintain proper records of counselling discussions and career plans.
• Work closely with parents, teachers, and school leaders to guide students’ future decisions.

IB English teaching responsibilities

• Design and conduct engaging English lessons based on IB teaching practices.
• Create lesson plans, assignments, and assessments that promote inquiry and critical thinking.
• Help students strengthen reading, writing, speaking, and analytical abilities.
• Evaluate student progress and give clear, constructive feedback.
• Keep the classroom well-managed and foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
• Take part in curriculum planning, school events, and academic discussions.

Qualifications and experience

The ideal candidate should hold a master’s degree in English, Psychology, Counselling, Education, or a closely related discipline. A B.Ed. or comparable teaching qualification is preferred, and certification in career counselling or guidance will be an added advantage. The role calls for 3 to 5 years of experience in English teaching or career counselling, with experience in international schools or IB settings preferred.

Job details

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India. Bachelor’s degree is preferred, teaching experience of 1 year is preferred, and total work experience of 1 year is preferred. English is the preferred language for communication at work.
