Job description
About the Role
An exceptional opportunity is available for a knowledgeable and empathetic leader to take charge of the Musculoskeletal (MSK) Outpatient Therapies service as Therapy Lead. This leadership role encompasses operational oversight for a vital sector of the MSK Outpatient Therapies team, primarily based at Aintree University Hospital and encompassing additional satellite sites across northern Liverpool.
The position requires flexibility to foster close connections with clinical teams across multiple Trust locations. The Therapy Lead will manage clinical teams specializing in trauma outpatients, shoulder and elbow conditions, rheumatology, and hydrotherapy.
Responsibilities
Working collaboratively with the Head of MSK Therapies, fellow MSK Therapy Leads, and Consultant Therapists, the incumbent will play a critical role in delivering an outstanding, patient-focused MSK outpatient therapies service. The role demands operational leadership driving quality assurance, safety protocols, care standards, and continuous service enhancement. The successful candidate will support staff development, oversee integrated care pathways, and maintain robust governance by managing incidents, risks, and complaints, promoting a culture of learning and support.
Organizational Context
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust includes Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, and Royal Liverpool University Hospital. These institutions cover a wide spectrum of healthcare services, including major trauma, elective surgeries, rehabilitation, specialized women’s and neonatal care, and more. The Trust operates within the NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group, formed in November 2024, serving over 630,000 people in Merseyside and providing specialized care for more than two million people across the North West.
