Overview
An exceptional opportunity is available for an experienced dietitian to join the North Mersey Stroke service at Aintree site, part of the NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group. The role is based at Aintree University Hospital, focusing on acute inpatient stroke care, including the Stroke Emergency Assessment Centre (SEAC), Hyperacute Stroke Unit (HASU), and inpatient rehabilitation services.
About the Service
The North Mersey stroke service includes centralized acute services at Aintree and additional rehabilitation units and stroke early supported discharge teams located at Broadgreen Hospital. The role requires strong collaboration with these teams to provide comprehensive stroke care.
Responsibilities
- Deliver advanced dietetic care for stroke patients in an acute inpatient setting.
- Maintain professional links with the Aintree dietetic team for peer support and training.
- Work closely within a multidisciplinary team comprising medics, nursing staff, and other allied health professionals.
- Participate actively in service innovation, improvement projects, and audits.
- Supervise dietetic students and newly qualified dietitians, demonstrating leadership and communication skills.
- Contribute to team meetings focusing on safety, governance, and performance against national standards.
- Collaborate in education and training initiatives within the stroke service.
Requirements
- Experience as a Band 5 or 6 dietitian with a background in acute inpatient settings.
- A strong interest in stroke care and related dietetic management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and leadership.
- A proactive and innovative approach towards service development and evaluation.
- Capability to work productively within a large multidisciplinary team.
Additional Information
The post-holder will be supervised by a Band 7 dietitian and supported through annual appraisals and regular supervision. The successful candidate will engage in ongoing professional development and contribute towards raising standards of dietetic care for stroke patients.
