Role overview

This Motor Assessor role is based in Brisbane, Queensland and sits within Customer & Operations. The position is responsible for delivering sound assessment outcomes for motor claims, whether that results in repair cost decisions or total loss outcomes.

Key duties

  • Produce the most appropriate assessment outcome, including closed file reviews and open file reviews where relevant.
  • Follow all motor assessment procedures, including guideline compliance, parts allowances, severity coding and repairer standards.
  • Use repair cost benchmarking, alternative parts reporting and scorecards where suitable to lift repairer performance.
  • Help improve service quality for both selected and non-selected repairers.
  • Support customers with timely resolution of complaints, including matters involving repair warranty, service and related concerns.
  • Work toward or surpass productivity targets.
  • Prepare total loss reports within 24 hours of assessment whenever reasonably possible.

What the role asks for

  • Trade qualifications with substantial post-apprenticeship experience as a panel beater, spray painter or motor mechanic; or substantial experience as a motor insurance assessor; or completion of CAC-approved units from the Certificate IV Vehicle Loss Assessing course, which is preferred.
  • Experience in repair shop management or estimating, and in motor vehicle assessment practices and damaged vehicle quoting, is preferred.
  • Prior quoting experience is preferred.
  • A valid driver licence.
  • Strong understanding of the Motor Vehicle Insurer and Repair Industry Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, organise work and manage competing demands and resources.
  • Comfort working through complexity and ambiguity while offering practical commercial solutions that align with stakeholder needs.
  • Demonstrated capability with systems, software, databases, reporting tools and communication platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in using emerging technologies to stay current in a fast-changing digital environment.

Benefits and culture

  • Supportive, inclusive culture where team members are encouraged to be authentic and focus on customer outcomes.
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangements, with workplace adjustments available where possible to support work-life balance.
  • Access to mentoring, development opportunities and global mobility, plus more than 10,000 learning resources.
  • Financial and wellbeing benefits including discounts on Allianz products, retail, technology and travel, along with financial wellness initiatives.
  • Employee Share Purchase Program, allowing employees to buy shares in the company.
