Role Overview
As a Mortgage Loan Officer, you will join Banner Bank's acclaimed Mortgage Lending team, awarded the 2020 Residential Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Award by the Mortgage Bankers Association. Your primary role involves originating real estate loans through varied channels, ensuring adherence to the bank's standards of economic value and operational security, and contributing to the bank's sustained profitability.
Responsibilities
- Generate real estate loan business through realtor networks, contractor referrals, branch personnel recommendations, and direct customer engagement.
- Set up loan applications accurately within the bank's systems and facilitate their progression to underwriting.
- Develop financing presentations for listings and attend open houses or subdivisions to solicit loan prospects.
- Participate in Realtor and Builder Association meetings regularly to foster networking and business opportunities.
- Attend both internal training programs and external sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Meet with clients at branch locations to discuss loan applications and participate in closing appointments as necessary.
- Engage in community outreach initiatives promoting home ownership, such as conducting first-time homebuyer classes and representing the bank at community events.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant policies, security standards, and government regulations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum high school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field preferred.
- Mandatory registration with the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS).
- At least three years' experience in residential mortgage origination is essential.
- Demonstrated success in consistently closing and funding loans to meet sales targets.
- Comprehensive understanding of mortgage origination processes, regulatory requirements, and underwriting standards.
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities.
- Awareness of market competition, current sales tactics, trends, and real estate lending laws at the federal and state level.
Work and Travel Requirements
- Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time as required.
