Role overview

The Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) represents Victoria’s visitor economy and works with industry, government, and partners to strengthen the tourism and events sector. VTIC is seeking a commercially minded Member Engagement Manager to expand and deepen its membership community and help deliver the organisation’s 2026–2029 strategy.

This position focuses on growing membership in a sustainable way by combining acquisition, retention, and engagement activity. The role also carries responsibility for shaping a strong, data-informed member experience throughout the full member journey.

Key responsibilities

  • Increase membership numbers and membership revenue while supporting VTIC’s growth goals.
  • Plan and run targeted campaigns to attract and retain members through events, partnerships, regional outreach, and digital channels.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective members and convert leads into lasting relationships.
  • Create a smooth member experience from first contact through onboarding and ongoing engagement.
  • Represent the value of membership clearly and confidently, positioning VTIC as a trusted industry partner.
  • Lead high-value engagement activity such as member experiences and events.
  • Use data and performance insights to improve engagement, measure results, and reduce member churn.
  • Work closely with internal teams to deliver events, campaigns, and strategic initiatives.

  • Consistent growth in membership and revenue year after year.
  • Retention above 90% and a highly active member base.
  • Strong member satisfaction and advocacy.
  • Clear conversion results from events, partnerships, and campaign activity.
  • A recognised and trusted presence within Victoria’s visitor economy network.

You are a confident relationship-builder with a commercial mindset and a genuine interest in creating industry impact. You enjoy connecting people, identifying opportunities, and turning prospects into outcomes.

  • Background in sales, business development, and membership-based roles.
  • Proven ability to meet and exceed growth targets.
  • Strong skill in identifying, engaging, and converting new business opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Experience using CRM systems and managing sales or membership pipelines.
  • Interest in, or understanding of, the tourism, events, or broader visitor economy sectors.
  • Proactive, energetic, and results-focused working style.
