Role overview
As a Medical Writer in Scientific Communications, you will work with scientific colleagues to produce accurate, polished medical communication materials across multiple formats. The role is designed to build strong foundations in scientific writing, editorial quality, and the clear translation of data into compelling communications.
What you will do
- Develop a wide range of medical communications content, including abstracts, posters, manuscripts, slide decks, medical affairs materials, and presentations.
- Ensure all written work meets company standards for grammar, scientific accuracy, client objectives, and compliance requirements.
- Manage your own workload so assignments are delivered on time and within budget.
- Work directly with clients and external key opinion leaders in a confident and professional manner to keep projects running smoothly.
- Review and apply feedback from internal and external stakeholders while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
- Keep editorial and client services teams informed about relevant project updates and information.
- Build and maintain understanding of therapeutic areas, competitors, new products, and new indications relevant to assigned accounts.
- Support client services by flagging scope, deadline, or specification changes that may affect budgets and forecasts.
- Track actual time against budgeted time on projects, complete timesheets accurately, and submit them weekly to the line manager, client services leads, and finance.
- Stay current with industry self-regulation, compliance guidance, and client SOPs, and apply good working practices consistently.

Requirements
- A degree in life sciences, ideally supported by a science master's degree or PhD.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Working knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and its processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and solid organisational ability.
- Ability to manage several tasks at once and work independently in a fast-moving agency environment.
- Willingness to learn new therapy areas and disease states as needed.
- Proactive communication style for sharing updates, ideas, progress, and feedback with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Outlook, and Adobe.
