Job description
Role overview
This is a field-based Medical Science Liaison position supporting the safe, effective use of therapies for a major pharmaceutical organisation. The role is responsible for scientific engagement across Southern Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, with close collaboration with healthcare professionals, internal teams, and external experts.
The MSL will report to the Europe MSL Director and will independently plan and run medical activities in line with broader company strategy and objectives.
Medical support
- Deliver therapy training so products are used safely and effectively.
- Engage healthcare professionals proactively with approved product and procedure education.
- Provide medical education sessions and internal training as the subject matter expert.
- Act as a scientific and technical resource for commercial and R&D teams.
- Develop strong peer-level relationships with key opinion leaders and other external specialists.
- Share clinical evidence, highlight evidence gaps, and offer objective scientific insights to healthcare professionals.
- Create and carry out territory plans to connect with key opinion leaders and collect relevant clinical feedback.
- Represent the company with medical and scientific input at congresses and medical conferences.
Research support
- Help identify clinical trial sites, support initiation activities, and provide protocol education.
- Work with principal investigators to strengthen patient recruitment and improve data quality.
- Recognise and support promising investigator-initiated research concepts.
- Provide quarterly progress and insight updates to senior leadership.
Strategic engagement
- Build and execute local medical plans that align with company strategy.
- Liaise with medical societies and respond to their questions about therapies.
- Organise advisory boards and educational events with key opinion leaders.
- Support presentations for hospital formulary committees and reimbursement decision-makers.
Requirements
- Strong background in science and clinical research.
- Ability to interpret clinical information and communicate findings clearly.
- Proven expertise in relevant therapeutic areas, ideally supported by publications.
- Solid clinical understanding, preferably gained through patient-facing or healthcare experience.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and online customer or clinical systems.
- Fluency in both German and English.
- Excellent relationship-building and consultative abilities.
- Strong presentation and teaching skills.
- Self-driven mindset with a willingness to keep learning.
- Good at managing priorities, handling workload, and solving problems creatively.
- Collaborative, adaptable, and confident in approach.
- University degree in Life Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, or Nursing; a Master's degree or higher is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry, ideally in an MSL role.
- Good knowledge of German medical organisations, hospitals, and scientific societies, with preference for Hematology-Oncology stakeholder experience.
- Must have the legal right to work in the stated location.
- This is a field-based position covering Southern Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
- Ideally based near a major city or international airport in Southern Germany.
