Job description

Role overview

The Medical Science Liaison acts as a field-based scientific expert who partners with healthcare professionals, researchers, and key opinion leaders to strengthen the scientific conversation around Aytu BioPharma’s therapeutic portfolio. In this position, you will help shape medical education, contribute clinical insight to strategy, and uphold scientific accuracy across field activities. The role also connects the company’s internal scientific teams with the wider healthcare community.

Core responsibilities

  • Build, grow, and sustain working relationships with key opinion leaders, investigators, and academic institutions across assigned territories, with an initial scope covering the United States.
  • Support commercial field teams through training sessions, learning materials, didactic presentations, and scheduled office hours.
  • Act as a trusted scientific contact for healthcare professionals by sharing balanced, non-promotional information about product science, disease education, and clinical evidence.
  • Serve as the bridge between Scientific Affairs and the commercial function to improve sales team understanding of Aytu BioPharma’s therapeutic assets.
  • Assist external clinical development efforts by helping identify sites, educating teams on clinical trials, and collecting medical insights.
  • Represent the company at congresses and scientific conferences to capture insights, align on strategy, and track competitor activity.
  • Contribute to advisory boards, speaker preparation, and peer-to-peer medical education programs.
  • Handle unsolicited scientific information requests in line with compliance and legal requirements.
  • Share field observations and recommendations with internal partners such as R&D, Commercial, and Regulatory teams to support medical planning and product lifecycle decisions.
  • Support clinical trial site awareness and collaboration in close coordination with Clinical Operations.
  • Keep subject-matter expertise current through ongoing professional development and internal learning.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

This role requires strong scientific judgment, a solid grasp of clinical research and compliance rules, and the ability to communicate technical content clearly to different audiences. Success also depends on analytical thinking, strategic interpretation of field intelligence, comfort with ambiguity, independent working style, and strong relationship-building skills with physicians and other stakeholders.

Work setting and travel

The position is remote, with preference for candidates working in Western or Mountain Standard Time. It requires substantial travel of 60% to 80%, including overnight travel and attendance at conferences. The work environment is an office setting with standard lighting, heating, and air conditioning, and the role is primarily sedentary because of administrative duties.

Education

An advanced scientific degree is required, such as PharmD, PhD, MD, or an equivalent qualification in a life science field.

Experience

Applicants should have at least 1 to 3 years of experience in a Medical Science Liaison role or a similar position within pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or medical devices. Greater experience of 5 to 8 years is preferred. Background in CNS, especially psychiatry, is an advantage, and prior work on product launches or field education programs is highly desirable.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this role is $180,000 to $190,000.
