Role Overview

We are looking for an organized and friendly Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team at Carnes Hill Doctors. This front-desk position involves assisting patients and visitors by greeting them, managing check-ins, answering inquiries, collecting co-pays, handling paperwork, and scheduling appointments. You will also help maintain a tidy work environment and ensure the office is welcoming for patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage clinic opening and closing procedures.
  • Professionally and courteously greet patients and callers.
  • Schedule patient appointments.
  • Maintain patient records with confidentiality and efficiency.
  • Process patient payments accurately via cash, Eftpos, and direct billing.
  • Handle invoicing for Medicare, Private Health Funds, TAC, and Workcover.
  • Apply knowledge of the MBS schedule and correct billing practices.
  • Interact courteously and helpfully with referring doctors, hospital staff, and pharmacists.
  • Address patient inquiries.
  • Manage internal emails.
  • Cover staff absences due to leave or illness by filling in the roster.
  • Keep the reception waiting area and consulting rooms tidy, including cleaning up spills.
  • Ensure accurate storage and retrieval of patient and practice records through scanning, faxing, and filing.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality of patient personal and financial information.
  • Complete patient recalls.
  • Support the daily operations of the medical centre.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and demonstrate strong teamwork.

Selection Criteria

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Experience using medical software such as BEST PRACTICE or MEDICAL DIRECTOR.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated dedication to providing high-quality patient service.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Receptionist in a medical practice.

Additional Requirements

  • Current Police Check.
  • Current Working with Children clearance.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certificate.
  • Immunisation Record.
  • Driving Licence/Photo ID.

We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible. This is a casual role with remuneration negotiable based on experience.
