Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to join our team in Singapore, specializing in the design and development of plastic injection-molded components for LEGO® bricks. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality, functionality, and manufacturability of our iconic products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and refine designs for existing LEGO® bricks using Siemens NX Design Software.
  • Establish and maintain technical specifications for current LEGO® brick models.
  • Take full ownership of the bricks' form, fit, and function, ensuring adherence to LEGO® design criteria, manufacturing standards, and playability requirements.
  • Deliver engineering projects punctually, within budget, and meeting quality benchmarks, following LEGO® governance and development protocols.
  • Utilize expertise in plastic injection molding, mold design, materials science, dimensional tolerancing, and manufacturing techniques to produce practical and durable designs.
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving product quality, efficiency in engineering processes, and overall productivity.
  • Contribute to fostering a collaborative, inclusive team culture that emphasizes continuous learning and positivity.

Team Context

The Element Development Reorders (EDR) team, part of Existing Element Development and Element & Additive Engineering within the Engineering & Quality organization, spearheads the development of existing LEGO® bricks. The team ensures that products continuously meet evolving standards for play, safety, quality, and compliance while upholding design excellence. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is vital to delivering robust and high-quality solutions. The team also engages in organizational efforts to drive improvements in quality and operational effectiveness.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience designing plastic parts.
  • Proficiency with Siemens NX Design Software.
  • Solid understanding of plastic mold design, injection molding processes, and tooling.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis and problem-solving strategies.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and a passion for learning.
  • A proactive, positive, and team-oriented mindset.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
