Job description

Overview

We are looking for a committed mathematics teacher (m/f/d) to join the Manege School, a state-recognized substitute school under Manege gGmbH, at the Marzahn-Hellersdorf site in Berlin. The role starts immediately and is part-time, with a workload of 15 teaching hours per week.

The school works within the IBA programme (integrated vocational preparation) and supports learners in working toward the BBR, eBBR and MSA qualifications.

Manege gGmbH supports young people through youth social work, youth vocational assistance and youth welfare. Together with the Sisters of Saint Mary Magdalene Postel and the Salesians of Don Bosco, the organization helps adolescents take their first steps into working life and structure their daily routines.

Responsibilities

  • Design learning experiences for young people whose life circumstances have often kept them further away from formal education.
  • Maintain a respectful, attentive and supportive approach in daily interaction with the students.
  • Work closely with the educational support staff and, when needed, coordinate with the in-house psychologists.

Profile

  • Completed university degree in mathematics, physics or electrical engineering (M.A., diploma or Magister), or a completed bachelor’s degree together with enrollment in a master’s programme.
  • Strong motivation to work with the described group of young people.
  • Enjoyment in creating lessons in inventive ways and in combining practical learning with theory, including excursions.
  • Sense of responsibility and an outgoing, approachable manner.
  • Patience and resilience, as learners and school routines may need to be rebuilt from the ground up.
  • Interest in helping shape the school as it continues to develop.

Benefits

  • Pay that is above average for the role, aligned with the AVR guidelines of the German Caritas Association, including extensive social benefits, a 100% employer-funded pension plan, annual special payments and a contribution to capital-forming benefits.
  • A meaningful and varied position with substantial room to shape the work independently.
  • Regular team rounds, supervision, thorough onboarding, and opportunities for qualification as well as professional growth and further training.
  • Occupational health management with wellness and prevention offerings, plus reintegration support after a longer illness.
  • Cafeteria with discounted lunch, convenient parking, and an employer-affiliated childcare center.
  • Direct access by suburban rail and motorway.
  • Additional benefits and discounts are available through the organization’s benefits programme.
