Job description
Role overview
This is a one-off, paid consulting engagement for seasoned professionals who have real, hands-on experience in product marketing monetization, pricing strategy, or pricing and packaging ownership. The work is for an AI Marketplace research project and is not a full-time position.
The engagement is remote and limited to U.S.-based experts. No advance preparation is needed; the expectation is that you speak from your own day-to-day experience.
Engagement details
- Format: one recorded, AI-guided video interview
- Estimated duration: about 30 minutes
- Compensation: estimated at $135 per hour, prorated for the 30-minute session
- Work style: project-based, contract engagement
- Schedule: self-managed by the participant
- Tools: participants use their own tools and setup
What the interview will cover
You will be asked to walk through how you handle pricing and packaging work in practice, step by step. The discussion will focus on how you gather and use pricing inputs, validate package structures, model business impact, secure approvals, and manage launch-related decisions.
- Collecting willingness-to-pay, competitor, value metric, cost, sales, and customer inputs
- Designing package tiers and testing them with customers, sales, finance, and product leaders
- Building models for revenue, margin, discounting, migration, grandfathering, and churn risk
- Managing approvals, rollout messaging, exception handling, and post-launch learning
What we are looking for
Ideal participants are professionals with deep experience in product marketing, monetization, pricing, packaging, or commercial strategy, especially those who have directly owned or strongly influenced these workflows in a real operating environment.
- At least 8 years of relevant experience
- Direct ownership of pricing and packaging input gathering, validation, modeling, approval, rollout, and exception-policy workflows
- Experience influencing decisions on pricing inputs, tier design, value metrics, revenue and margin assumptions, approval limits, regional restrictions, discount policy, and migration communication
- Comfort working with tools such as Excel, Google Sheets, Salesforce, CPQ platforms, Tableau, Power BI, Productboard, Qualtrics, Gong, and win/loss tools
- Ability to explain decisions, workflows, and tradeoffs clearly and in detail
- Experience collaborating across functions such as HR, legal, payroll, finance, HRIS, business leadership, people managers, or compensation committees where relevant to the workflow
About the interview and data use
The interview is intended to capture detailed, experience-based explanations rather than broad summaries. After completion, your video and transcript, together with AI-generated insights, will be shared with the internal research team and an AI lab partner.
The information collected will be used to build a structured task list for the profession and to support AI model improvement.
