About Whatnot

Whatnot is a leading live shopping platform spanning North America and Europe, where users buy, sell, and explore a broad array of categories like trading cards, fashion, electronics, and live plants. As a rapidly growing marketplace pioneering live commerce in the Western market, Whatnot's remote teams, based across multiple international hubs, thrive on speed, user-centric innovation, and high-impact outcomes. Recognized as the #1 Best Startup Employer by Forbes, the company empowers individuals to build businesses around their passions and connect communities through commerce.

Role Overview

The Marketing Manager, Digital Events will be pivotal in orchestrating large-scale digital events within the Whatnot app. This role is responsible for the comprehensive management of event execution — including timeline oversight, asset coordination, seller onboarding support, and promotion — with an emphasis on driving buyer and seller engagement as well as platform growth. Collaborating across marketing, creative, product, and sales teams, the manager ensures seamless execution and continuous improvement through data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage event timelines, coordinate required assets, and oversee in-app merchandising and email marketing elements to maximize buyer engagement and seller involvement.
  • Develop and maintain clear operational plans for digital events, track dependencies, and ensure cross-functional teams meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Facilitate successful participation for sellers and creators by providing onboarding assistance, programming support, and clear communication to set expectations.
  • Collaborate with marketing, creative, category, and seller teams to ensure event promotional campaigns are effectively planned, compelling, and timely across channels.
  • Conduct post-event analyses to highlight performance trends and translate findings into improved strategies for future events.

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates will have over two years of experience in marketing, events, operations, creator programs, or a related discipline, especially within fast-moving environments. They demonstrate strong execution skills managing complex campaigns, possess a proactive attitude to drive progress under uncertainty, and excel in clear communication to align diverse teams. An analytical mindset to leverage data for enhancing event impact and curiosity about product and community dynamics are essential. Candidates should embody a team-oriented, humble approach, prepared to undertake all tasks necessary for event success.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with lifecycle marketing, email campaign management, event programming, and data reporting.
  • Familiarity with graphic design platforms such as Canva or Figma.
  • Background working with creator communities, seller bases, or online marketplaces.
  • Personal interest in Whatnot categories like vintage clothing, collectibles, sneakers, beauty, electronics, or live plants.
  • Previous involvement with buying or selling on online marketplaces.

Benefits

  • Generous holidays and time-off policies.
  • Choices of medical, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • Support for remote work including home office setup allowances.
  • Monthly reimbursements for cell phone and internet services.
  • Care benefits, wellness stipends, and childcare assistance.
  • Company-sponsored family planning support including adoption and fertility expenses.
  • Retirement plans with 401k options in the US featuring employer matches, and pension schemes internationally.
  • Monthly allowance to actively use and test the Whatnot app.
  • Comprehensive parental leave with up to 16 weeks paid and a month of gradual re-entry support.

Additional Information

The role supports flexible work from home or office hub locations; however, candidates need to reside within commuting distance of the Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, or New York hubs. Whatnot values diversity and inclusion, being an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to non-discrimination based on protected statuses by law. The salary range for this position falls between $126,000 and $140,000 annually.
