Job description

About the Role

Air Canada is looking for a Marketing Advisor focused on social media to help shape how the brand shows up across its online communities. This position plays a key role in managing Air Canada’s social presence and in translating audience sentiment into meaningful, brand-aligned engagement.

In this role, you will help strengthen loyalty by creating and coordinating social communications, capturing and developing content, working closely with creative teams, and collaborating with stakeholders across the business. You will also act as an internal resource for teams across Air Canada that want to engage customers through social channels.

The role sits within a cross-functional environment and requires close partnership with marketing agencies, the Social Media Customer Engagement Team, Corporate Communications, and other internal groups. You will help present a consistent, engaging, and customer-focused view of Air Canada across social platforms while also spotting new ways to showcase the brand creatively.

Responsibilities

  • Grow and engage the communities for Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, and Aeroplan across owned social channels such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
  • Capture and produce content that supports campaign work and the always-on social content calendar.
  • Support the Manager, Social Media in shaping annual social strategy and setting priorities.
  • Create direction and write briefs for creative partners so social content stays aligned with corporate, marketing, and brand goals.
  • Review campaign briefs and recommend the most effective approach.
  • Help manage vendor relationships with companies providing social media products and services.
  • Build relevant relationships and collaboration opportunities with Air Canada-related groups such as Air Canada Vacations, Cargo, Jazz, and Star Alliance.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert and advisor for internal business units.
  • Develop strong working relationships across teams affected by interactive media, including Call Centre, Customer Relations, Web Team, Product Design, Premium Marketing Partnerships, and Corporate Communications.
  • Provide leadership, knowledge, and support to the Social Media Customer Engagement team.
  • Handle social media communication during crisis situations and be available on call to support the team as required under the LOU arrangement.
  • Spot proactive opportunities and processes that help build a positive brand image in both commercial and customer service contexts.
  • Track social listening results and performance reporting across channels and campaigns.
  • Make sure all online communications are accurate, consistent, and legally compliant.
  • Oversee quality control for all social campaign components.
  • Ensure brand identity and guidelines are followed.
  • Work with internal teams to set priorities and secure approvals for important product messages and special offers.
  • Apply social media best practices in daily work.

Requirements

  • A university degree in Business, Marketing, or a related equivalent is required.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Strong bilingual ability in English and French, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Demonstrated experience with social media strategy and execution.
  • Good judgment when deciding whether comments should be answered, de-escalated, escalated, or handled in another way.
  • Comfort with current technology and strong knowledge of social media platforms, devices, tools, and applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening.
  • Ability to manage several projects and requests at the same time while aligning day-to-day work with broader corporate goals.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Very strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • High levels of creativity, initiative, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to identify fresh ways to present the brand through new digital formats.
  • Practical understanding of digital media, including the internet and social channels.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to perform well in a fast-moving environment.
