Māori Language Specialist - Freelance AI Trainer Contract

Overview

We seek a seasoned Māori language expert to contribute significantly to the evolution of AI technologies that understand and incorporate Māori cultural and linguistic nuances. This role involves utilizing your language expertise to enhance the accuracy and cultural relevance of AI systems, thereby enabling more authentic and effective Māori language interactions in various applications such as education and accessibility.

Key Duties

Daily responsibilities include reviewing and annotating Māori language materials, scrutinizing AI-generated text for grammatical correctness and fluency, identifying error trends, and collaborating with the development team to improve prompt design and evaluation criteria aligned with linguistic and cultural standards.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must be fluent in Māori and have substantial professional involvement in translation, linguistics, teaching, or editing related to the Māori language. Experience in training, coaching, or working with linguistic annotation tools will be advantageous. Effective communication, cultural insight, and meticulous attention to detail are necessary traits.

Compensation and Terms

The hourly rate ranges from $8 to $65, with remuneration determined by your individual background, experience level, and location. Note that as a contractor, you are expected to provide your own secure hardware and reliable internet connection. Benefits such as health insurance and paid leave are not included.
