Role Overview
This position sits within L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty and focuses on shaping category growth for skincare and haircare within Strategic Food and Club channels. Based in Hudson Yards, New York, the role reports to the Director of Category Development Haircare. The manager will use shopper understanding, market intelligence, and category analysis to build strategies that improve the shopping journey and drive growth for the division’s brands.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Guide the strategy and evolution of assigned categories within Strategic Food and Club.
- Develop a strong understanding of market movements and omni-channel category trends.
- Work closely with the Sales team to define account goals and create execution plans.
- Act as the internal subject matter expert on channel insights for teams such as Marketing and Trade Marketing.
- Apply category and shopper intelligence tools including NielsenIQ, Market360, Amazon Tech/Profitero, Scintilla, Numerator, Spate, Suzy, Ipsos, social engagement platforms, retailer loyalty systems, custom shopper studies, and external research sources such as Euromonitor, Kantar, Kline, and Mintel.
- Join senior customer meetings alongside Sales to position LDB as a category authority and strategic partner.
- Design end-to-end solutions across core category management areas such as assortment, insight generation, and digital or on-site merchandising, then help implement them with the buying team.
- Continuously look for opportunities, recommendations, and improvements that can strengthen business performance.
- Improve the quality, depth, and efficiency of commercial analysis.
- Adapt central category thought leadership, including Quarterly Market Assessments, for Strategic Food accounts and the Club channel.
- Support the move from traditional category management toward a broader category development approach centered on long-term growth and innovation.
Scope of the Role
- The role requires a broad understanding of the consumer packaged goods and beauty landscape, along with experience in mass retail.

- The manager owns assigned projects and objectives while coordinating with internal teams and field sales.

- The role involves regular interaction with field sales, account teams, marketing, sales operations, and other functions in New York, along with exposure to senior leadership.
- The position requires collaboration with distributed teams across off-site locations and the ability to build client relationships that support business investment outcomes.

Required Experience and Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a closely related field.
- At least 4 years of experience in Marketing, Category Management, or Sales, preferably within beauty or consumer goods.
- Prior experience supporting retailer strategy development and execution.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data and contribute to plans that improve sales and profit.
- Experience in the beauty industry, ideally across more than one category.
- Working knowledge of shopper insights and how they inform category strategy.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to share findings and help shape action plans.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $98,400 to $140,200 per year. Final compensation will depend on factors such as location, work experience, education, and skill level.
