Primary Role

The role of Supply Chain Manager at the Dayton facility involves steering purchasing, planning, inventory control, supplier performance, and material availability. The goal is to ensure an ongoing flow of materials to meet customer requirements, optimize inventory, uphold supplier accountability, reduce costs, and maintain timely deliveries. This position works closely with Operations, Program Management, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to support organizational goals and customer commitments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead purchasing, planning, and materials operations in Dayton to maintain uninterrupted production material flow.
  • Oversee material availability and manage shortages by identifying and mitigating supply chain risks.
  • Manage supplier relationships and address issues related to quality, delivery, responsiveness, and pricing, serving as the primary point of escalation.
  • Develop inventory management approaches that optimize turnover while honoring delivery commitments.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Program Management, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Finance for customer demand, new product launches, and production scale-up.
  • Track and analyze supply chain metrics, spotting trends and driving needed improvements.
  • Implement supplier scorecards and conduct regular performance assessments.
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives and aid supplier consolidation efforts alongside Corporate Supply Chain.
  • Negotiate prices, terms, and agreements with suppliers to realize cost savings and enhance service quality.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP tools to boost planning accuracy, procurement efficiency, and inventory visibility.
  • Develop and uphold supply chain policies, processes, and best practices to achieve operational excellence.
  • Identify cost reduction prospects, improve supplier performance, and enhance efficiency.
  • Drive cross-functional solutions to material shortages, supply disruptions, and delivery challenges.
  • Produce and present reports on inventory, supplier performance, cost-saving efforts, and supply chain risks.
  • Coach and develop supply chain team members, establish departmental objectives aligned with company goals.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and customer focus within the supply chain organization.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Logistics, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in supply chain, purchasing, planning, materials management, or procurement in manufacturing.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience managing supply chain teams such as buyers, planners, or schedulers.
  • Strong knowledge of MRP systems, inventory management, procurement, supplier management, forecasting, and demand planning.
  • Proven success in supplier negotiations, cost-reduction, and inventory optimization.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and influence all organizational levels.

Preferred Experience and Certification

  • Background in EMS, electronics manufacturing, contract manufacturing, or regulated manufacturing preferred.
  • Prefer certifications such as APICS CPIM, CSCP, CPSM, or equivalents.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk throughout manufacturing facilities.
  • Capable of sitting, standing, and moving between office and production areas during work hours.

Work Environment

  • Position requires working in both office and manufacturing settings.
  • Exposure to manufacturing equipment, moving machinery, and material handling vehicles on the production floor.
  • Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in manufacturing zones.
