Position Overview
The Manager of Education and Public Programming plays a vital role in designing, developing, executing, and assessing educational initiatives and events aligned with the organization's mission. Reporting to the Director of Education, this position ensures that programs engage students, teachers, the public, partners, donors, and the community effectively.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage educational programs with a focus on history, civics, and related disciplines reflecting current classroom learning trends.
- Engage in national discussions regarding K-12 classroom learning and informal education as a representative of the Adams Presidential Center.
- Collaborate in creating strategies to broaden the center's virtual and in-person reach into K-12 education.
- Develop curricula, instructional materials, and frameworks in partnership with subject matter experts.
- Organize and coordinate schedules, facilitators, speakers, and logistical needs for educational programs.
- Handle participant registration, ongoing communication, and follow-up activities.
- Coordinate logistics for various events such as workshops, seminars, fundraisers, conferences, and outreach initiatives.
- Manage event budgets, contracts, and procurement procedures effectively.
- Work closely with communications colleagues to promote and market events.
- Lead event day operations and oversee volunteer coordination.
- Measure program outcomes and produce detailed impact reports.
- Maintain active communication with program participants, speakers, partners, and vendors.
- Build and nurture relationships with schools, community groups, and stakeholders.
- Support fundraising efforts through participation and coordination of events.
- Maintain databases related to programs and events ensuring accurate records.
- Prepare reports and presentations on program progress and impact.
- Ensure adherence to organizational policies and compliance with nonprofit regulations.
- Contribute insights and assistance during annual planning and strategy development.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in History, Education, Museum Studies, Communications, or a similarly relevant discipline.
- A minimum of five years of experience working in museums, libraries, historic sites, schools, or other educational environments.
- Familiarity with both formal and informal education methods and practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to effectively engage with diverse audiences including academics, educators, contractors, students, and stakeholders.
- Strong written and oral communication capabilities.
- Exceptional organizational and program management skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and virtual meeting platforms such as Teams and Zoom.
Compensation
The role offers an annual salary of $80,000 complemented by a comprehensive benefits package.
