Role Overview

This position is part of the Group Internal Audit function and is responsible for supporting audits across investment banking and support functions. The role offers independent assurance and advisory input on control effectiveness in domestic divisions, with a focus on investment banking, treasury, risk, and support areas. It also contributes to the rollout of advanced data analytics and continuous auditing methods to improve audit efficiency and enable near real-time risk oversight.

The incumbent must work in line with the GIAD Group Audit Manual, global internal audit standards, and all relevant local regulations. The role is also expected to ensure that business risks are properly reflected in the audit strategy and to help strengthen the organization’s resilience to both current and emerging risks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help shape and execute the risk-based annual audit plan for domestic investment banking and support functions in line with Group Internal Audit strategy.
  • Identify compliance and operational exposures that could affect financial performance, reputation, or shareholder value, and propose practical mitigation actions.
  • Evaluate how effective and efficient the relevant processes and controls are, with the aim of improving governance, risk management, and control practices.
  • Introduce and support KPI tracking and audit best practices for the investment banking and support functions audit activity.
  • Promote cost awareness, productivity, and avoidance of waste while working within delegated authority.
  • Develop and sustain constructive, independent working relationships with business teams and support stakeholders across the group.
  • Present audit observations, risk assessments, and recommendations to senior stakeholders, including the SVP, EVP, and GCAE, as directed.
  • Provide advisory input on internal controls, consumer protection, financial crime prevention, and regulatory compliance when required.
  • Respond to internal queries on banking products and help direct requests toward suitable solutions.
  • Maintain service levels with internal departments to improve turnaround times and support coordination across units.
  • Work as a team member on audit engagements, deliver assigned audit tasks, and escalate issues or conflicts promptly to protect quality and timelines.
  • Support planning activities by helping perform detailed risk assessments, interviewing auditees, and documenting scope and work programs, including APM, RCM, and ToR deliverables.
  • Carry out fieldwork testing on assigned areas and assist with progress reporting and interim discussions with auditees.
  • Draft concise audit findings and recommendations backed by evidence and discuss them with auditees to secure agreed management actions.
  • Validate issue closures according to the latest audit methodology and escalate possible delays to management when needed.
  • Complete audit file closure procedures in line with current standards and methodology.
  • Work with peers to ensure full audit coverage of domestic subsidiaries, support functions, control functions, and risk functions.
  • Support department audits covering internal controls, risk management, and governance frameworks against best practice and regulatory expectations.
  • Identify control gaps, process inefficiencies, and non-compliance matters, and recommend practical improvements.
  • Apply internal audit methods, tools, and best practices consistently across engagements.
  • Contribute to the use of data analytics in audit work to improve risk detection, analytical depth, and efficiency.
  • Help advance continuous auditing capabilities that provide timely assurance and insights.
  • Keep up to date with audit developments and technologies, while building practical capability in data analytics and continuous auditing.
  • Pursue professional development and stay current in the field.
  • Follow all legal, regulatory, and internal compliance requirements, including AML/CTF, sanctions, data protection, fraud control, whistleblowing, conflict of interest, insider dealing, and ethics policies.
  • Operate effectively under the Three Lines of Defense model to identify, measure, monitor, manage, and report risks.
  • Support conduct risk objectives and the framework for RCSA, KRI, incident reporting, and remediation as needed.
  • Maintain the knowledge and competence needed to perform the role successfully and complete all mandatory training.
  • Attend mandatory internal and external seminars as directed by the bank.
  • Ensure the audit function complies with applicable regulations, privacy laws such as GDPR, governance frameworks, and industry standards.
  • Make sure audit engagements consider regulatory compliance and key business risks.
  • Contribute to strengthening internal controls, risk management, and the compliance environment across the organization.

Education and Experience

A university degree is required, preferably in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or Information Technology. A master’s degree is preferred.

The role calls for at least 6 years of progressive experience in internal audit, compliance, or a related discipline, preferably gained in a highly rated international bank.

Professional certifications such as CIA are preferred, while other international or country-specific credentials such as CPA, ACCA, CFA, CISA, or CFSA are highly desirable.
