Role Overview
This is a remote, hourly position that requires full-time travel across the Northeast region. With overtime, travel time, and supplemental earnings, the role can exceed $100,000 annually. The position focuses on keeping wind turbines operating efficiently through specialized repair and component exchange work. A $2,500 USD sign-on bonus is available, subject to eligibility requirements.

What You’ll Do
You will handle major component exchanges and repair activities at wind sites across multiple locations and platforms. The role involves working on critical turbine systems and helping reduce downtime while maintaining strong performance and safety standards.
- Carry out risk assessment before work begins and identify possible hazards in advance.
- Use the required protective equipment, follow safety procedures, and maintain compliance with all applicable safety standards.
- Replace major components such as gearboxes, generators, and other essential systems.
- Complete preventive maintenance, minor to medium repairs, retrofit work, design changes, and special assignments according to established procedures.
- Travel extensively to support turbine operations across different sites and conditions.
- Work with teammates to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality results.
- Perform safety checks and help maintain a secure work environment.
- Adapt to a variety of turbine platforms, site conditions, and team settings while continuing to learn on the job.
What You Bring
The ideal candidate puts safety first, follows procedures carefully, and acts quickly to prevent incidents. You should be comfortable troubleshooting complex issues and carrying out major repairs across different turbine systems.
- Preferred prior wind turbine experience with hands-on major component exchange work.
- At least 1 year of wind technician experience, or 6 months of wind technician experience plus a wind technician certificate/education, or 2 years of transferable mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic experience.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose problems and perform significant repairs on multiple platforms.
- Willingness to travel 100% of the time and work in varied site conditions.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to solve technical challenges.
- Good physical fitness and comfort working at heights and in changing conditions.
- Ability to speak, read, and follow instructions in English.
- High school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and legal authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.
Training and Equipment
Training support includes access to comprehensive learning programs and certifications such as Global Wind Organization (GWO) Safety & Technical Training. All required personal protective equipment and tools are provided.

Compensation
The base pay range for this position is USD 27.43 to USD 33.43 per hour, with possible additional variable compensation. Final pay will be based on experience and qualifications. Overtime, travel, and supplemental earnings may increase total annual earnings. A $2,500 USD sign-on bonus is offered for eligible candidates, including those who already hold Basic Safety Training (BST), Basic Technical Training (BTT), and Advanced Rescue Training (ART) certifications from the Global Wind Organization (GWO).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
- Hearing capability for telephones, radios, and similar devices.
- Strong vision, including depth perception, field of vision, and color distinction.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to climb stairs and vertical ladders to heights of 60 to 100 meters, and at times supervise work in confined spaces.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to complete required safety training and earn certifications in LOTO, Electrical Qualification, Fall Arrest, High Angle Rescue & Emergency Descent, and Confined Space.
- Ability to complete all training courses, including controlled descent practical exercises.
- The combined weight of the employee, required PPE, and gear must not exceed 300 lbs; PPE and gear may weigh up to 40 lbs.
