About the Role

Vestas is a global leader in wind energy technology and a major force in the growth of the wind power sector. The company develops, manufactures, sells, markets, and maintains wind turbines. This position sits within the Regional Operations Engineering Support team for Service Onshore under Region APC and Service APAC, supporting operations in India and Sri Lanka.

The team’s mission is to help service operations run wind farms more effectively by delivering technical guidance, practical solutions, and improvements that raise turbine performance. The role also contributes to blade inspection, repair, optimization, cost reduction, and operational readiness initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advance blade inspection methods, including robotic internal inspections and improvements to drone-based inspection workflows.
  • Lead failure analysis work to inform commercial choices and support forecasting for service contract planning.
  • Oversee the blade repair backlog in Service Asia and coordinate blade care improvements with APAC blade LCE.
  • Prepare customer-facing reports, method statements, and internal technical documentation.
  • Carry out specialized tasks that require strong expertise in blade technology, including structural assessment and repair planning.
  • Visit repair sites to gain hands-on familiarity with real-world blade repair activities.
  • Review CIRs and create BIRs.
  • Provide both on-site and remote support for blade damage assessment, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Handle technical queries from field service and construction teams.

Required Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering or Mechanical Engineering; candidates with other degrees may be considered if they bring relevant experience.
  • Background in glass fiber or carbon fiber design and construction.
  • At least 5 years of engineering experience with strong problem-solving exposure.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • A master’s degree in Mechanical, Polymer, or Chemical Engineering will be an advantage.

  • Comfortable working under pressure, managing several priorities, and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication, organization, and confidentiality practices.
  • Able to adapt to a changing, progressive work environment.
  • Works well across functions and with varied stakeholders.
  • Good computer literacy, especially in MS Office; AutoCAD knowledge is an added benefit.
  • Self-driven and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Hands-on experience with glass/carbon structural repair, especially for wind turbine blades.
  • Exposure to wind turbine implementation, operation, standards, and servicing.
  • Experience in project management and structured problem-solving approaches such as 8D and DMAIC.
  • Commercial awareness from working with customers in sales or service environments.
