Overview
This fully remote position is for a Major Component Exchange (MCE) Technician working across the Northeastern region of the US and Canada, requiring 100% travel. Technicians in this role have the opportunity to earn over $100,000 annually including overtime, travel pay, and bonuses. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the highest safety standards through risk assessments, hazard identification, use of protective equipment, and adherence to regulations.
- Perform major wind turbine component exchanges including gearboxes and generators with precision.
- Conduct maintenance, minor to medium repairs, retrofits, design updates, and special projects following established procedures.
- Travel extensively to diverse sites to perform repairs across various turbine platforms.
- Work collaboratively with teams to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency in turbine operations.
- Carry out safety inspections to maintain secure work environments.
Candidate Profile
- Strong commitment to safety and ability to follow all established protocols to prevent accidents.
- Preferably experienced in wind turbine operations with hands-on MCE work.
- Minimum of one year of experience as a wind technician, or 6 months experience plus a Wind Technician certificate/education, or 2 years in related mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic fields.
- Skilled in troubleshooting and performing major repairs on different turbine platforms.
- Comfortable with constant travel and working in varying site conditions including heights.
- Physically capable to work under demanding conditions, including climbing ladders and lifting loads up to 50 lbs.
- Proficient in English for reading and following instructions.
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license; legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Training and Equipment
Vestas provides comprehensive training, including access to certifications such as GWO Safety & Technical Training. All necessary personal protective equipment and tools will be supplied.

- Hourly pay range between $27.43 and $33.43 depending on qualifications and experience, plus performance bonuses.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended durations.
- Good hearing for communication devices.
- Vision that meets safety standards, including depth perception and color differentiation.
- Capability to stoop, kneel, crawl, and maintain manual dexterity.
- Comfort with climbing vertical ladders up to 100 meters and supervising confined space work.
- Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Maximum combined weight with equipment to not exceed 300 lbs due to fall protection gear limitations.
