Role summary
The Maintenance Worker will report to the Camp Manager and handle light maintenance tasks in a camp environment to keep facilities safe, clean, and operating properly. This is a safety-sensitive position and requires a criminal record check.
Camp setting and amenities
This role is based in a remote camp environment and includes the following support and facilities:
- Meals and accommodations are provided
- Transportation to and from site is arranged from Winnipeg, Thompson, Flin Flon, and The Pas
- Private room with cable television
- Wi-Fi access
- Laundry facilities with detergents supplied
- Access to a gym and shared common areas
Core duties
- Carry out routine maintenance inspections across camp assets, including items such as light bulbs, doors, and taps
- Diagnose and resolve day-to-day maintenance problems such as blocked toilets, leaking faucets, damaged appliances or equipment, and HVAC concerns
- Perform basic carpentry work
- Inspect, clean, and replace filters when needed
- Collect waste from dorms and take it to the designated disposal area each day
- Handle snow clearing duties as required
- Support janitorial and housekeeping teams with lifting and other physical tasks
- Record maintenance issues and completed repairs in the reporting system
Qualifications and requirements
Applicants should have experience in maintenance work within a remote lodge, hotel, institutional, or construction setting. Familiarity with light power tools is required. A valid G Class or Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driving record is strongly preferred. Candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. The role also requires the ability to work a 2 weeks on / 1 week off rotation, collaborate effectively as part of a team, manage multiple priorities, and maintain strong communication skills. Comfort with Microsoft applications and maintenance tracking software is also expected.

- Climb ladders or stairs
- Stand, walk, squat, kneel, or sit for extended periods depending on the task
- Perform repetitive hand work using both hands fully
- Work with arms positioned above shoulder height
Schedule and pay
The position follows a rotational schedule of 2 weeks on and 1 week off. Work may include nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. The pay rate starts at $20.00 per hour.
