Job description
About the Role
McDonald’s Australia is the country’s largest quick-service restaurant network and has been a familiar Australian brand for more than 50 years. The business is built around putting customers first, and it aims to make every interaction matter. Recognised as an employer of choice, it offers a workplace where people can take pride in their work, enjoy the environment, and continue building a career in a supportive, fast-moving setting.
The maintenance team is an important part of the restaurant operation and reports to the Restaurant Manager. This position is centred on keeping the restaurant clean inside and out, and making sure the site is ready for service each day. It suits someone who is organised, able to work independently, and attentive to detail.
While full-time positions are usually preferred, people who can only do part-time or casual work are still encouraged to apply, particularly if they are available for late-night or early-morning shifts.
Day-to-Day Duties
- Keep the restaurant’s internal and external areas clean, functional, and inviting for guests and team members.
- Look after equipment so it stays operational and the workplace remains safe and free from hazards.
- Maintain the car park, patio, and exterior fixtures such as bins, garden areas, kerbs, signage, floors, tables, and chairs.
- Tidy and organise the back-of-house areas, including the waste area and staff toilets.
- Follow restaurant safety and security requirements to help maintain a safe workplace.
- Carry out additional maintenance tasks as directed by management.
What You’ll Need
- Strong attention to detail.
- The ability to work on your own without close supervision.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- A neat, friendly, and professional presentation.
- Availability for early-morning shifts to get the restaurant ready for trade.
- Ability to complete hands-on tasks independently, including mopping, scrubbing, ladder work, and cleaning windows and toilets.
- Confidence dealing with customers, suppliers, or contractors, including handling challenging interactions.
- Ability to hear and respond quickly to alarms and other alerts.
- A resilient, adaptable attitude and a positive approach when problems arise.
- A police check will be required if you are successful, for applicants over 18 years of age.
- A valid right to work in Australia.
Benefits
- Discounted meals at McDonald’s.
- Access to savings across 400 retail brands through the MyBenefits program.
- 24/7 wellbeing support through a health and safety app, including live chat with qualified professionals such as nurses, psychologists, and emergency responders.
- Opportunities to gain nationally recognised qualifications through the company’s Registered Training Organisation.
- Access to globally recognised training.
- Flexible shift patterns that can support better work-life balance.
- A workplace committed to diversity, equality, and equal opportunity.
- A positive, inclusive, and welcoming team culture.
