Job description
About the team
The Search team works on improving how people discover local services such as hotels, restaurants, and leisure activities. The group uses large-scale machine learning to strengthen search and recommendation quality, with an emphasis on better relevance, query interpretation through LLMs, CTR/CVR prediction, and improving LLM-driven local service formats in search.
Role overview
This graduate opportunity is for candidates who want to take on challenging problems, contribute bold ideas, and grow in a fast-moving environment. The role is based in Singapore and is planned for a 2026 start.
Responsibilities
- Help improve discovery experiences for local video service users, especially across hospitality, dining, and leisure categories.
- Contribute to better search experiences that support growth across the local services ecosystem.
- Apply large-scale machine learning to search and recommendation problems serving billions of users, with the goal of improving user journeys and conversion outcomes.
- Build and refine search algorithms across the entire pipeline, including query understanding, relevance, recall, coarse ranking, fine ranking, and blended ranking.
- Work on personalization models for relevance scoring, along with CTR and CVR prediction models.
- Develop vector-based retrieval and value blending approaches for search.
- Use LLMs to interpret complex local service queries, distill useful information from videos, comments, and POI reviews, and convert that into structured AI search outputs.
- Contribute to practical AI features for searches related to destinations, hotel selection, tourism, and food and beverage reviews.
Qualifications
- Completing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- Strong programming ability and a solid grasp of algorithms and data structures in C++, Python, or Java.
- Practical knowledge of machine learning and hands-on experience applying it.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Modeling experience in one or more of these areas: ads, search engines, recommender systems, NLP, or CV.
- Strong foundation in LLM-related methods, including experience with single-modal or multi-modal LLM applications and deployment.
