Position Summary
The Lot Attendant is responsible for keeping pre-owned vehicle inventory organized, clean, and ready to be shown to customers. The job supports both sales and service by making sure vehicles are parked correctly, moved efficiently, and displayed in a professional way. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-focused, and comfortable working outdoors in a fast-moving dealership environment.
Responsibilities
- Arrange and park used vehicles on the lot and in the showroom according to dealership standards.
- Move vehicles safely between the lot, service area, reconditioning locations, detail bay, and delivery zones.
- Check incoming vehicles for cleanliness, damage, equipment, and correct labeling.
- Keep used vehicles clean, fueled, and prepared for test drives and customer presentations.
- Assist with setting up vehicles for appointments, test drives, and customer deliveries.
- Attach hangtags, window stickers, dealer plates, and merchandising materials.
- Maintain the appearance of the lot by removing snow, clearing debris, and cleaning windshields as needed.
- Complete lot checks to confirm vehicle locations, inventory accuracy, and proper display order.
- Help sales consultants and managers position vehicles for promotions, online photos, and display arrangements.
- Transport vehicles to and from off-site locations such as auctions, vendors, and reconditioning facilities when needed.
- Follow dealership safety practices and help maintain a safe work environment.
- Take on additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements
- Prior experience as a lot attendant, porter, or in a similar automotive support role is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to operate both automatic and manual transmission vehicles safely.
- Strong eye for detail and a commitment to keeping the lot clean, organized, and presentable.
- Comfort working outdoors in different weather conditions.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to handle physically active work.
- Good teamwork, communication, and customer-service skills.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
