The opportunity

An opening is available for a dependable and motivated cleaner to join the team in Ashburton, Canterbury. This role suits someone who works well in a busy setting, takes pride in detail, and enjoys keeping spaces tidy, safe, and welcoming.

This is a part-time onsite position with shifts from Monday to Friday, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The pay rate is $28.95 per hour.

Core duties

• Carry out routine cleaning tasks to a consistently high standard.
• Clean upholstered or furnished surfaces as needed.
• Sweep and mop floors.
• Clean toilets and related areas.
• Collect and dispose of rubbish.
• Clean glass surfaces, both inside and outside.
• Dust hard surfaces thoroughly.

What the employer is looking for

The preferred candidate will ideally bring prior cleaning experience in a commercial setting, although this is not stated as mandatory. Strong teamwork, the ability to follow directions, and the confidence to work independently are important. The role also requires excellent attention to detail, reliable customer service, and a strong record of punctuality and dependability.

A solid understanding of workplace health and safety is expected. Experience with floor maintenance machines such as scrubbers, buffers, or sweepers would be advantageous. Flexibility to work varied hours or public holidays may be needed.

Additional conditions

Applicants must be at least 18 years old because of company health and safety rules. All training and communication, including safety guidance, are delivered in English, so strong spoken and comprehension skills in English are essential. Reliable transport is also required.
