Job description
Role overview
This is a private-household position for an experienced governess to support twin children aged 9 in Central London. The home is fully staffed, so the emphasis of this role is on the children’s development, daily structure, education, and overall well-being.
The twins have different interests: one is an enthusiastic fencer and the other plays basketball seriously. The successful candidate should be comfortable supporting an active, organised routine that keeps up with school, activities, and travel.
Core duties
- Oversee the children’s day-to-day schedule, including morning wake-ups, hygiene, meals, and adherence to the household routine.
- Track homework progress, coordinate with tutors, and help ensure educational targets are achieved.
- Take the children to school at 8:00 AM and pick them up at 4:30 PM.
- Accompany the children to fencing and basketball sessions and make sure they have the correct equipment and are ready on time.
- Travel with the family internationally and manage child-related packing, unpacking, seasonal wardrobe preparation, and logistics while away.
Candidate profile
- Background as a governess, teacher, or nanny with experience that can be verified.
- A degree in education, child psychology, or another related pedagogical field is strongly preferred.
- Comfortable working on a rota of 1 month on and 1 month off.
- Available to travel internationally at short notice.
- Good English communication skills are beneficial for daily interaction with the school and household staff.
Working arrangement
This position is based in Central London and includes international travel.
The schedule follows a rota pattern: 1 month on, 1 month off.
Compensation
Salary is £66,000 per year gross.
