About the Role
We are looking for a junior to mid-level Litigation Lawyer Associate to join a dynamic practice that emphasizes social justice. The role offers a combined litigation and solicitor workload ideal for professionals seeking diverse experience without early specialization, while contributing impactful work daily.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a range of litigation cases including Landlord and Tenant Board disputes, Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario applications, and Small Claims Court proceedings.
- Representing clients before tribunals and courts, taking ownership of files with early responsibility.
- Providing governance advice to charities, not-for-profit organizations, and cooperatives.
- Handling employment law issues alongside related advisory and litigation tasks.
- Drafting, reviewing, and advising on commercial and construction contract matters.
Candidate Profile
- At least 3 to 5 years of call to the Ontario Bar with good standing in the Law Society of Ontario.
- Demonstrated experience appearing before administrative tribunals and/or courts is highly valued.
- Ability to navigate confidently between contentious litigation and advisory responsibilities across various legal domains.
- Strong skills in drafting, file management, and client engagement, capable of managing cases with minimal oversight.
- A sincere dedication to social justice issues is highly desirable.
Compensation and Working Conditions
The salary offered ranges from $110,000 to $130,000 annually based on years of call, with potential discretionary bonuses up to 5% tied to firm revenues. The position expects a billing target of 1100 hours with a hybrid schedule of three days onsite and two days remote.
