Job description

Position Overview

Air Evac Lifeteam is seeking a dedicated Helicopter Pilot to join their full-time team in Natchitoches, LA. This role focuses on providing critical medical air transport services where mission-critical timing and safety are paramount. The pilot will collaborate closely with medical professionals to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of patients.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary range from $106,511 to $117,162, including a 20% Geographic Modifier
  • A $15,000 sign-on bonus, subject to eligibility criteria
  • Retention bonuses totaling $40,000 after three years of service plus further incentives upon continued tenure
  • Provision of on-duty housing accommodations
  • Consistent 7-day-on, 7-day-off work schedule

Key Duties

  • Collaborate with medical teams to transport patients safely to designated locations and healthcare facilities
  • Conduct thorough pre-flight preparations ensuring aircraft compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and company standards
  • Ensure the helicopter is maintained in a clean and ready state for flight operations
  • Maintain precise and compliant documentation for both regulatory and company records
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, fellow pilots, facility staff, and external partners to coordinate flights
  • Provide detailed shift handover information following established protocols
  • Maintain all necessary certifications, medical clearances, and pursue ongoing training requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid FAA Rotorcraft Commercial Pilot certificate
  • Helicopter instrument rating is mandatory
  • Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate
  • A minimum of 2,000 total flight hours including:
    • 1,500 hours on helicopters
    • 1,000 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) on helicopters
    • 1,000 hours on turbine-powered helicopters
    • 200 night flight hours on helicopters, with or without visual aids
  • Compliance with a maximum weight limit of 230 lbs including flight gear

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience operating Bell 407 aircraft
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
