About the Role
Wellways Australia invites applications for a Life in Community (LinC) Worker position within their newly formed Bushfire Surge Response Team. This role focuses on Mental Health and Wellbeing Local services across the Mitchell and Murrindindi Shires. The position entails supporting individuals facing mental health challenges, social isolation, or loneliness by helping them build meaningful connections within their communities. This rewarding full-time role runs until 30 June 2027.
Key Responsibilities
- Use personal lived experience to engage, motivate, and assist community members.
- Provide one-on-one and group support to individuals exploring interests and passions.
- Collaborate with clients’ supporters to assist in their social integration.
- Enhance community capacity by facilitating activities, distributing resources, and delivering presentations about the effects of social isolation on mental health and wellbeing.
- Promote hope through positive role modeling and forming mutual relationships.
- Support clients in overcoming daily barriers and encourage participation in new activities.
About You
- Possess personal lived experience with mental health challenges and recovery, willing to share this journey to empower others.
- Exhibit empathy, community focus, strong communication skills, and ability to connect with diverse groups.
- Hold or are willing to complete Certificate IV Mental Health/AOD Peer Work, SHARC Peer Worker Training, or Intentional Peer Support training.
- Prior experience in community engagement or peer worker roles is desired.
- Right to work in Australia.
- Willingness to undergo National Police Check, Working with Children Check, and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Module is required.
