Job description
Role overview
Stranger Soccer is growing into major cities worldwide and is looking for a License Owner to launch and run its business in Wellington. This is a founder-style opportunity for someone who wants to build and operate a local venture around making football more accessible.
The position is a strong fit for an adventurous entrepreneur who is deeply passionate about football and excited by the challenge of growing a brand in a new market.
What you will do
- Represent and build the Stranger Soccer brand in the assigned city.
- Hire, coach, and manage a compact core team of 2–3 people, along with a few freelance Official Hosts to support launch and day-to-day operations.
- Find and lock in premium time slots at football venues for Stranger Soccer games.
- Drive creative sales and marketing activity, including digital and hands-on outreach, so customers see the platform as an easy and preferred way to play.
- Manage the game calendar and make sure players have a great experience every time, encouraging repeat play.
- Work with guidance and support from the Singapore headquarters, including operations and technology teams.
What we are looking for
- Strong enthusiasm for football and a close connection to the local football community.
- Background in business, preferably with experience in management and customer service.
- An entrepreneurial mindset or prior entrepreneurial experience.
- Genuine commitment to building, leading, and scaling the Stranger Soccer presence in the local market.
- High drive to perform well, with compensation linked to effort, business sense, and results.
About Stranger Soccer
Football draws billions of fans across more than 200 countries, yet many people still struggle to play regularly. Stranger Soccer is changing that by making it as simple to play football as it is to go for a jog or visit the gym. Through its mobile app, users can browse available games, reserve a slot, and show up to play.
Originally launched in Singapore, the company is now active in more than 10 cities and has already delivered over 100,000 games. It is continuing to expand and is inviting license partners to bring Stranger Soccer to their own cities.
Mission
To make playing football as easy as going for a jog.
Vision
To create a world where playing football is as common and widespread as watching it.
Next step
Interested candidates are encouraged to learn more through the Stranger Soccer website and the section about bringing the business to a city. If the opportunity feels like the right match, they can complete the interest form there and explore the mobile app.
Additional information
This is not a conventional management role. It is designed for someone who wants real ownership of a business that also helps make the world’s favourite sport available to more people. Compensation is described as being proportional to the hard work, business judgment, and effectiveness of the person in the role.
