Opportunity Overview
Based at the Central City Library, this pivotal role ensures the Auckland community of over 1.7 million people has access to exceptional library collections, digital assets, and relevant technologies. The position merges expertise in procurement, copyright, collections management, and stakeholder relations within New Zealand's largest public library network.
Key Duties
- Oversee coordination of procurement and contract renewal input for library collections and certain technologies.
- Assist management and staff in crafting procurement strategies, requests for proposals/documents, supplier evaluations, budgets, business plans, and contract terms.
- Maintain accurate contracts and purchase orders within Council’s systems for collections and technological resources.
- Develop and sustain productive relationships with internal teams and external partners.
- Support staff in contract and supplier performance management along with financial reviews.
- Provide timely and relevant guidance to library personnel concerning copyright, licensing, and rights management.
- Stay informed on industry trends, supplier changes, and market dynamics impacting library services and licensing agreements.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a degree in Library and Information Studies, Business, Procurement, or related fields.
- Brings a minimum of five years experience handling library collections.
- Possesses comprehensive understanding of copyright law, licensing, access rights, privacy, and data protection issues.
- Experienced in managing supplier contracts within sizable organizations.
- Exhibits strong commercial acumen, financial analysis capabilities, and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Additional Information
The salary range for this position is between $90,000 and $117,000 per annum, contingent on experience and skills.
