Job description
About Hawk
Hawk builds AI-backed technology for anti-money-laundering and fraud detection. Financial institutions and payment providers around the world use its rules-based and explainable AI approach to strengthen AML compliance and fraud prevention, reduce false positives, and surface more suspicious activity. The company says it contributes to the wider effort against money laundering, fraud, and terrorism financing, and emphasizes a workplace built on trust, support, and opportunities for professional growth.
Role overview
As a Working Student in the Legal team, you will assist with a broad mix of legal and compliance tasks that support the company’s international operations. The position offers practical exposure to contract handling, regulatory analysis, and legal operations within a fast-moving SaaS environment, while giving a law student the chance to build hands-on experience across commercial law and fintech regulation.
What you will do
- Improve the use of AI-based tools so they better support contract review and commercial agreement workflows.
- Help develop internal legal processes and documentation by applying legal engineering methods, including prompt-based AI support.
- Assist with legal operations and coordination on cross-functional initiatives using modern legal ops practices.
- Review, draft, and organize commercial, vendor, and partnership contracts, while also supporting the rollout and refinement of AI-assisted workflows.
- Carry out legal research in areas such as financial regulation, AML and compliance, data protection, corporate law, and employment law.
- Maintain and refine legal templates, documentation, and checklists through the use of modern tools and AI research methods.
- Support regulatory and compliance work by tracking legal changes and keeping internal stakeholders informed.
- Contribute to collaborative projects with teams including Sales, Product, People, and Finance.
What the company is looking for
- You are currently studying law and can commit for at least the next 6 months.
- You have a strong interest in AI, technology, legal operations, fintech, or regulatory compliance topics such as AML, data protection, and financial regulation.
- You can map and document legal processes in a way that helps uncover inefficiencies.
- You communicate fluently in English at C1 level or higher; German is an advantage, especially for document review.
- You are careful with details, well organized, and able to juggle multiple priorities dependably.
- You work well on your own, take initiative, and are comfortable asking questions when needed.
- You bring strong communication skills and enjoy collaborating with others.
- You handle confidential information with reliability and discretion.
What you’ll gain
- Practical experience supporting an in-house legal function in a growing technology company.
- Exposure to international legal topics spanning commercial law, compliance, data protection, and regulation.
- A clearer understanding of how legal work supports a SaaS business in the financial sector.
- Direct insight into how AI is changing legal work and expanding into LawTech.
- The chance to help redesign and automate processes instead of only following existing ones.
- Cross-functional exposure to teams such as Sales, Product, Customer Success, People, and Leadership.
