Job description
Role Overview
Thompson Hine LLP, an Am Law 200 firm known for its focus on innovation and inclusion, is hiring a full-time Legal Talent Coordinator for its Chicago or Los Angeles office. This role sits within the Firm’s Talent Management team and partners closely with the Managers of Legal Talent and the Senior Law School Recruiter to help drive lateral and law school recruiting across the firm.
Lateral Recruiting and Talent Support
- Keep candidate information current in the applicant tracking system, including adding and updating applicant details, uploading documents, tracking status changes, and preparing reports.
- Arrange interview logistics end to end, such as reserving conference rooms, coordinating catering, and organizing candidate travel when required.
- Send interview itineraries and reminders, and gather post-interview feedback and evaluations.
- Take part in behavioral panel interviews for associate candidates.
- Prepare offer letters for employed lawyers and handle related diligence tasks.
- Assist with attorney onboarding and integration by launching and tracking onboarding activities in RedCarpet, the Firm’s online onboarding platform.
- Create Employment Status Publications (ESPs) for incoming attorneys so internal departments are notified of new hires.
- Draft welcome communications for lateral attorney hires.
- Coordinate orientation calendars for new attorney starts.
Law School Recruiting and Summer Program Support
- Support the Senior Law School Recruiter with on-campus interviewing and summer associate recruiting initiatives.
- Handle OCI registration with law schools.
- Review resumes.
- Organize screening interviews and callback interviews, then collect feedback.
- Join behavioral panel interviews for summer associate candidates.
- Help plan and attend select summer program events.
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in regular Talent Management team meetings and occasional industry conferences.
- Join and contribute to a recruiting peer group, either virtual or local.
- Manage general administrative work such as invoice coding and processing.
- Take on other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, while a bachelor’s degree is preferred. The role also calls for at least two years of administrative experience.
Skills and Attributes
The ideal candidate brings strong organizational ability, careful attention to detail, and a proactive approach. Comfort working across differences, with emotional intelligence, empathy, and an inclusion-oriented mindset, is important. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are needed to work effectively with a diverse employee base. Excellent customer service and phone etiquette are essential. The job also requires regular attendance and punctuality, as well as the ability to work continuously with computers and other office equipment.
Technical Requirements
Experience with vi by Aderant or a comparable applicant tracking system is strongly preferred. Spreadsheet and database experience are required, and intermediate-level skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word are preferred.
Work Arrangement
This is an onsite role that must be performed at the designated location and during hours set by the Manager, in line with the Firm’s hybrid work policy. Any changes to the approved location or schedule require Manager approval.
Compensation
The firm bases pay on market, job responsibilities, experience, and other relevant factors. Estimated annual salary ranges are $59,000 to $74,000 for Chicago and $64,500 to $80,500 for Los Angeles.
