Job description

Overview

We’re looking for seasoned litigation and disputes professionals to share practical, hands-on expertise for an AI Marketplace research project. This is a single-session, paid, project-based interview on a contract basis and is not a permanent or full-time position. No prep work is needed; the goal is to capture how you genuinely handle matters in day-to-day practice.

This engagement is limited to experts based in the United States and is fully remote. The expected compensation is $175 per hour, prorated for a 30-minute task.

What the interview covers

You will take part in an approximately 30-minute recorded, AI-guided video interview focused on how you actually manage litigation work in practice. The discussion will center on the following workflows:

  • Receiving litigation matters and evaluating facts, exposure, urgency, confidentiality, insurance coverage, conflicts, and the first strategic steps.
  • Choosing, onboarding, and overseeing outside counsel, including staffing, budgets, performance, strategy, invoices, and ongoing reporting.
  • Handling motions, key deadlines, settlement analysis, mediation, authority approvals, reserve-setting, and decisions about whether to try a case or settle it.
  • Carrying out resolution activities, judgment compliance, appeals, release of holds, lessons learned, final spend reconciliation, and closeout responsibilities.

You should be able to describe the complete workflow step by step, from intake through closeout, using your own real-world examples and clear reasoning.

Who this is for

This opportunity is intended for professionals with deep litigation or disputes-management experience, such as litigation counsel, disputes counsel, litigation managers, or in-house litigation attorneys. Applicants should have substantial ownership of these processes in a real operating environment and be comfortable answering detailed AI-led questions based on their own work history.

Important details

This is a one-time project engagement. Selected participants will be compensated for completing the recorded interview. The quoted rate is an estimate based on expected completion time. You will manage your own schedule, use your own tools, and remain free to take on other work or opportunities.

After completion, your recording, transcript, and AI-generated insights will be shared with the internal research team and an AI lab partner. The information will be used to build a structured task list for the profession and to support AI model improvement.

Qualifications and experience

  • At least 8 years of experience in litigation, disputes management, in-house litigation work, outside-counsel management, or complex matter management.
  • Direct experience handling litigation intake, early case assessment, outside-counsel oversight, case strategy, budgeting, settlement decisions, resolution, and closeout.
  • Practical involvement in decisions involving urgency, exposure, strategy, counsel selection, budget levels, motion planning, settlement authority, trial risk, reserves, appeal decisions, and closeout obligations.
  • Comfort using legal and matter-management tools such as Legal Tracker, Brightflag, SimpleLegal, TeamConnect, Relativity, Everlaw, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, and related systems.
  • Ability to explain workflows, decisions, and rationale in a detailed and structured way.
  • Experience leading or directly executing these processes in production settings.
  • Cross-functional collaboration experience with HR, legal, payroll, finance, HRIS, business leaders, people managers, or compensation committee stakeholders where relevant to the workflow.

Additional notice

Participants should apply only if they can confidently describe each stage of the work in depth and respond to interview questions with specific examples from their own experience.
