About Emirates NBD and the Role
Emirates NBD Group actively supports the UAE Government’s initiative to empower and develop local talents by fostering an innovative and supportive environment. We are looking to add a dedicated Legal Officer to our financial Remediation team based in Al Ain. This role focuses on initiating and overseeing legal recovery actions for overdue financial accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate delinquent and non-performing accounts escalated for legal follow-up.
- Interpret financing contracts to assess suitability for legal action.
- Draft and send legal notices, demands, and court documents, collaborating with both internal and external legal teams.
- Initiate court actions for bounced cheques, unpaid debts, and breaches of contract under UAE judicial regulations.
- Coordinate with external lawyers, police, and courts to handle case filings and proceedings.
- Monitor and report on legal case statuses, including hearings, judgments, and enforcement progress.
- Collaborate with collections, credit, and risk departments to ensure coherent case management and approvals.
- Advise on settlements, restructuring, repossession, or case closures after analyzing costs and merits.
- Maintain accurate legal documentation and case logs within the bank's management information systems.
- Assist with internal audits, regulatory compliance reviews, and provide documentation support.
- Conduct all legal efforts with professionalism, respect, and customer consideration to uphold the bank's reputation.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- UAE nationality with valid family book documentation.
- Residence within or able to work in Al Ain location.
- Bachelor's degree in Law.
- Strong communication skills in English, both oral and written.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, legal tracking tools, and banking software systems.
- Competence in interpreting banking frameworks within legal enforcement contexts.
- Experience in drafting legal documentation, contract review, and liaising with judicial authorities.
- Proactive and customer-focused mindset.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
- Background in customer service, especially within banking environments.
- Legal practice license is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience with UAE court proceedings, cases dealing with bounced cheques, and dispute resolution.
- Availability to begin employment immediately is beneficial.
