Position Overview
A partner company seeks a Legal Document Reviewer based in Canada to engage with prominent insurance litigation cases in a collaborative, international legal setting. This fully remote role involves reviewing extensive legal and technical materials, contributing to complex case strategies in various insurance law domains including construction disputes, corporate liability, and subrogated claims.
Key Responsibilities
- Thoroughly examine and interpret large quantities of legal, evidentiary, and technical documents related to insurance litigation.
- Evaluate documentation involving construction conflicts, director and officer liabilities, and subrogated claims.
- Identify pertinent evidence and crucial legal questions to support litigation strategies.
- Compose accurate and concise legal memoranda and summaries of documents.
- Collaborate virtually with legal teams to share findings and updates.
- Maintain accuracy, consistency, and timeliness in completing document reviews.
- Employ sound legal judgment and strong analytical reasoning throughout the review process.
- Use document review platforms and legal technology tools effectively to handle case materials.
- Operate autonomously while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
Requirements
- Degree in civil law from an accredited university.
- Active and good standing membership with the Alberta Bar Association.
- Between one and five years of experience in litigation.
- Advanced legal research and analytical skills along with critical thinking capabilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and proficient legal judgment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within a remote team environment.
- Experience reviewing detailed and complex legal and technical documents.
- Familiarity with document review software such as Relativity or Nextpoint is advantageous.
- Excellent organizational abilities and capacity to juggle multiple tasks efficiently.
