Role overview

This position is for a seasoned legal professional to join P&G India in Mumbai and support the business on a wide range of legal matters. The work covers commercial, advertising, pharma, competition, labour, industrial, and environmental laws, along with dispute handling across the Indian sub-continent. A company secretary qualification is preferred, but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on sector-specific legal requirements, ethical promotions, and compliance obligations.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and execute commercial contracts and agreements for business and business development activities.
  • Guide teams on marketing campaigns, advertising, product communication, and promotional matters.
  • Support intellectual property-related issues.
  • Assist with business development work, including negotiation and documentation.
  • Help implement policies, processes, and training programs, including those related to FCPA, anti-bribery, and competition law.
  • Work with the Government Relations team on government-related matters.
  • Partner with internal functions such as Medical, Regulatory, HR, Sales, Marketing, Distribution, and R&D on legal questions.
  • Advise on go-to-market strategy from a legal perspective.
  • Handle disputes across relevant forums.
  • Manage external counsel and other legal service providers.

Required qualifications

  • 3 to 7 years of experience with a respected law firm or in the legal team of a large multinational company, ideally in pharma or FMCG.
  • Company Secretary qualification is preferred.
  • Strong ability in commercial contracting, leadership, and stakeholder management.
  • Experience in advertising/marketing advisory and dispute management is preferred.
  • Forward-looking, strategic, and proactive approach to leadership and problem-solving.
  • Evidence of strong performance in professional and personal pursuits.
  • High integrity, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently.
