Job description

Role overview

Rolls-Royce is hiring a Lease Officer to join its Derby-based team working in a hybrid arrangement. This is a full-time role within Aether, the asset management function responsible for overseeing civil aircraft engines on behalf of third-party owners. The team supports the lease, return, and ongoing management of engines for airlines worldwide.

The role sits in a newly formed, fast-moving group focused on delivering services on schedule, reducing turnaround time between lease cycles, protecting asset value, and keeping risk low for owners. You will work closely with senior leaders on a daily basis, with the main team based in Derby and support functions located in London.

Key accountabilities

  • Oversee the movement of engines between organizations, including both internal teams and outside partners.
  • Handle technical acceptance and prepare technical recommendations for customers using acquisition management services.
  • Manage the collection and handover of technical records needed for lease delivery and redelivery.
  • Ensure the physical condition of engines is suitable when they are delivered to or returned by lease customers.
  • Support engine serviceability and availability through acquisition due diligence and by checking that operators meet redelivery obligations when leases end.
  • Spot operational issues early and work through solutions while keeping customer satisfaction high.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should ideally hold a degree in Aircraft Maintenance Management, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a closely related field, though equivalent experience in a similar position will also be considered. Relevant background may come from customer service, technical project management, or powerplant roles within an aircraft leasing company, engine leasing business, airline, MRO, or technical advisory firm.

The role may require travel at short notice, so flexibility to travel when needed is essential.

Preferred experience and strengths

  • Strong commercial awareness and sound business judgment.
  • Solid project management experience, preferably backed by a formal qualification.
  • Ability to organise priorities and deliver against tight deadlines.
  • Experience building and managing relationships with customers or external suppliers, especially airline operators or MRO providers.
  • Working knowledge of one or more Rolls-Royce Trent engines.
  • Excellent communication, diplomacy, influencing, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to solve complex problems while staying focused on customer needs.
  • Understanding of engine shop visit processes and airline engineering operations.
  • Comfort using computers and asset management platforms such as CMS, STREAM, EFPAC, Flydocs, Leasepoint, Salesforce, and OEM engine portals.

Benefits

  • Generous annual leave entitlement.
  • Retirement savings support through the Rolls-Royce Retirement Savings Trust.
  • Group life assurance, paying a lump sum if death occurs while employed by Rolls-Royce.
  • Group income protection, offering income support if illness or injury prevents work.
  • Your Shares: Matched scheme, where buying one share earns one free share from Rolls-Royce.
  • Access to digital GP consultations for convenient medical support.
