About the Role
This position is part of the Council's Community Group, which delivers community-centered services including Hamilton Pool, Parks and Recreation, Hamilton City Libraries, and the city's key visitor attractions. The group works collectively to maintain Hamilton as a lively, beautiful, and connected city that reflects the needs and aspirations of its residents.
Waterworld Te Rapa is the premier aquatic facility managed by the Council, featuring six pools such as toddler and outdoor pools, hydroslides, a full gym, land and water fitness classes, and swimming lessons for various age groups.
Job Summary
As a Learn to Swim Teacher, you will instruct preschool and school-aged children in foundational swimming techniques and water safety practices. The role demands strong communication skills and the ability to establish rapport with young learners. The available positions offer between 3.25 and 10.25 hours weekly, with shifts scheduled primarily in the afternoons from 3:15 to 6:30 pm and mornings on weekends from 7:45 to 11:30 am. Priority is given to availability on Sunday mornings and Monday afternoons.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Certification through Austswim as a Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety
- Demonstrated experience in teaching swimming
- Flexible and broad availability to cover different shifts
- Genuine enthusiasm for water activities and working with children
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly wage is approximately $28.95, dependent on individual skills and experience.

Additional Information
