Job Description
This role involves performing routine clinical laboratory tests across various disciplines including hematology, chemistry, immunohematology, microbiology, immunology, and coagulation. The specialist will acquire fundamental laboratory skills necessary for entry-level positions in these and emerging fields like molecular diagnostics. Responsibilities also extend to information processing, training, and quality control within the laboratory setting.
Accountabilities
- Receive and initiate pre-analytical processing for blood and body fluid samples at the lab reception.
- Conduct daily equipment checks to ensure safety and proper functionality.
- Execute all analytical processes on hematology, biochemistry, serology, and hormone laboratory machines.
- Perform daily quality control tests on reagents.
- Analyze blood cells through counting and identification using microscopic techniques.
- Prepare and examine urine and stool samples microscopically.
- Manage laboratory supplies inventory by monitoring stock levels, anticipating needs, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
- Conserve laboratory resources by judiciously using equipment and supplies.
- Communicate critical test results to medical staff promptly.
- Compile reports on technological findings by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing data.
- Maintain professional and technical expertise through educational workshops and reviewing publications.
- Ensure a safe and clean working environment by adhering to established procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Uphold patient and employee safety by following infection-control and hazardous waste policies.
- Maintain patient confidentiality by protecting sensitive information.
Note: The employee's duties are not strictly limited to the above; additional responsibilities may be assigned by management based on business requirements.

- Days Off: 1 day per week
- Working Hours: 8 net working hours per shift, as per the department head's schedule.
Job Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Applied Medical Science (Laboratory Section).
Experience
- 2 years of practical experience post-graduation.
Computer Skills
- Proficiency in Office applications and Health Information Systems.
Languages
- Fluent in both English and Arabic (speaking and writing).
